G and G offroad makes one, but it takes up some of the passenger foot space:

I don't trust the detachable winch mounts at all. They kill your aproch angle if they are installed when driving, and if it is out and you get stuck in a muddy spot, you have to pull it out and hook it up and get all muddy.

i really really hate mud and i fully agree on the approach angles's... but 1 i never like to wheel alone and 2, you should always wheel with someone with a winch =) problem solved! lol

actually THIS JEEP i have now i dont plan on it being a serious contender, the jeep im trying to get is going to be my beater upper... that one is the one i plan on tearing up on rocks.

If you spend any time in the rocks at some point you will get stuck, most the time you only use your winch for about 6 to 18 inches to get you off/over the rock.

Asking the person in front of you to find a place to turn around, drive back down and pull you for a short tug, then find a way to turn back around each and everytime you get stuck is not the best way to make friends on the trail. It can make a short trail a very long day.

i hear ya, my new delimma starting today is, buy a winch bumper and a winch for say 800 dollars.... OR goto this body shop and buy a pre-96 cherokee for 800 dollars, already has a lift on it, body's a little beat up but it is straight. front bumper looks a little pushed in, but overall it dont look bad.

Re: who has what bumpers?

I agree that a winch bumper is better than a non-winch bumper, especially when you are determined to wheel in places that require frequent recovery, but I park my beast outside and I did not want to expose an expensive winch to constant weather and thieves. Plus, the Jeep being a DD would require lugging that much more dead weight around on every trip. All things being said, I opted for something that I could add a hook, removable winch, or front hitch when pushing my trailer into the garage. My multifunctional bumper is the Swiss Army knife of bumpers.

Because its more of a pain in the ass to do. With our bumpers you just slide it in and put a pin in it.

Re: who has what bumpers?

I'll stick with FlexdXJ's answer to that question. It is all about economy, I suppose. When I finally get a winch I'll probably wish I had an actual winch bumper, but for the time being, I'm happy with my Stage IV and thinking that I'll actually use a winch on a winch plate. We'll see. I'm conflicted that way. Best thing to do is be happy with the decision you made and convince others that your chit is the best.
