Must do Moab trails?

Friends and I are in Moab for the week, and have a couple trails we are going to be doing, but would also like some input on other trails, or if we shouldnt do the trails we want to do.

Trails we are going to be doing:
Fins and Things
Hells Revenge
Metal Masher
Poison Spider

Other trails we thought about doing:
Golden Spike
3D Jeep Trail
??????

We have a CJ7 locked/locked on 35s and a XJ locked/locked on 35s, both with some experience behind the wheel, but no experience on Moab rocks.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Must do Moab trails?

The first ones you posted are some of my favorite. The second set I think will bore you with rigs like that unless you are in it only for the scenery.

I hope you are ok with very high temps. It's gonna be hot!

Re: Must do Moab trails?

I've never been on Golden Spike, but I agree with the good Dr. about 3D. It's more of a scenery ride for stock, or near stock jeeps.

I also like Steel Bender and Cliff Hanger.

Gold Bar rim to the golden crack is fun and then back out gold bar or gown down rusty nail. I did this combo last year and it was a blast.

Re: Must do Moab trails?

Good thread. I'll call this one up before heading to Moab in early 2011. I'm thinking Easter Jeep Safari...

I'm sure there are more scenic Moab trails than this one... but I can't think of any right now.

It is definitely worth taking an entire day to visit. Don't skip the Joint Trail hike, either. It will be relatively cool in there.

Hells revenge is my old stand by that everyone loves to do. And metal masher was a fun one too. Give Rock Chucker and Widow Maker a try too, pretty gnarly!

That trail looks amazing! I looked it over because it wasn't rated as one of the tougher trails, but next time i'm definitely doing it next time!

Re: Must do Moab trails?

Cliffhanger & Moab Rim are my favorites...... but I also have only ran a small handful of the trails out there.

I did a very mean thing to my g/f, on her first trip with me to Moab a few years ago (also her first time off roading.) We followed Sean Rose & his folks up Moab Rim for her first trail run. After riding the Z turn, she leaned back in her seat and said "I've figured out how to describe what you do to my co-workers. It's a bunch of guys teaching Jeeps to be mountain goats."

Re: Must do Moab trails?

So far we have done Fins and Things, first part of Hells Revenge and Poison Spider/Golden Spike/Golden Bar.

Friends I am with broke something in their rear axle less than a mile into Hells Revenge which ended their week on the first day which sucks for them.

From what I am doing, the trails in Moab are easy with a couple difficult obsticals. Less tough wheeling with lots of awesome sights to look at.

If you're looking for harder stuff you can go do Upper heldorado, Pratchett canyon, and Behind the rocks. Or there's always Area BFE. I haven't been able to do any of these, just cause my jeep isn't up to it. But they are much harder than what you've been doing.

Re: Must do Moab trails?

I would also suggest Prichett canyon. It is freaking awsome. Green day and coyote gulch are fun in bfe. Behind the rocks is sweet too
